Those who work in the sand and gravel mining, aggregate, agriculture and frac sand industries understand just how costly abrasion can be. Those tiny pieces of material wreak havoc on your machinery, rubbing, grinding and eating through the metal. It doesn’t take long before work is stopped and checks are written to replace pipes, augurs, screws, housings, chutes and so on. That’s where we come in. We can cover the exposed parts of your machinery with rubber, prolonging the life of your equipment.
Why Rubber?
Natural rubber is a relatively low-cost lining material used for both corrosion and abrasion protection. The high resilient, 40-50 durometer, soft natural rubber exhibits superior abrasion resistant qualities compared to other lining materials. Soft natural rubber offers excellent protection from many corrosive materials. The material is available in red or black if color contamination is a consideration. Typical applications include pump housing, fan systems, lining, and parts tumbling barrels. Constant to intermittent temperature limits are 150 ° to 180 °F.
Here’s an Example
Here’s a screw that’s currently being used in the sand industry. The screw conveys sand from a hopper, which is slowing eating away at the pipe. Replacing the pipe is not only costly, but the machine is out of commission during the replacement. With a desire to keep work running smoothly and efficiently, the company asked us to coat the piper with natural red rubber. The rubber will slow down the wearing of the pipe; now, the rubber will wear, so the company is able to save the screw and just replace the rubber.
We Cover So Much More
There are few limits to what we can cover with natural rubber. We can line a new or existing piece of equipment such as a pump housing, cyclone, impeller, tanks, fan housings, reactors and ducts. We can also make a bolt-on or slip-in liner for your specific application. Sioux Rubber 8: Urethane also lines chutes, pipes, flexible bends, cement mixers, tumbling barrels, fittings and flanges.
Not only do rubber liners protect metal, but they also protect the product or contents from contamination or damage. Custom fabrications may include bellows for dust extraction, connectors for vibration elimination and boots or sleeves for material transfer. Contact us and we can help specify the appropriate type of rubber to provide the maximum protection possible in your particular situation.
