The Dredge Pump

20 years ago, we were asked to create a custom lining for a dredge pump. Dredge pumps are used to clear out boat marinas and dam blockages, so they withstand a lot of abuse. Abrasion from sand, shells, and rocks will wear through the base metal of the dredge pump in two years or less! Fortunately, this particular pump had been installed with a simple soft rubber lining to protect the pump. Even so, this wasn’t going to hold up against the impact from all those tiny, abrasive particles. There was a need for a better, long-term solution. And that’s where we came in.

So, what makes one of our customized linings any better than the soft rubber lining that was originally installed? We’ve spent decades perfecting our proprietary rubber blend, Endurawear. This unique material bonds directly to existing equipment and can be manufactured with a variety of hardness, rigidity, and working temperature range. Knowing what we knew about the dredge pump, we were able to custom-fit a solution that would keep the pump running smoothly for years to come.

With the many variables in a working operation, it’s hard to predict just how long a lining will last before it needs to be replaced. In this case, we were hopeful to add 5 years to the lifespan of the dredge pump. Well, here we are, TWENTY years later. And that pump liner? It’s still going strong.
