At Sioux Rubber & Urethane, we’re proud of the fact that we are able to cover just about anything. We’re in the business of solving abrasion, corrosion, and impact issues for a wide variety of equipment types within dozens of industries. Because we’ve seen it all, we know that we need to be ready for anything. It’s important for us to have the tools and resources that we need in order to provide the utmost accuracy and precision in the solutions we provide. When products need to be cut and designed to precise size specifications, we turn to the Water Jet.
What is a Water Jet?
A Water Jet is used for precision cutting on a wide variety of materials. An ultra high-pressure pump generates a stream of water with pressure rated up to 94,000 psi (for a little perspective: a fire hose generates pressure of just 1200 psi). This pressure is converted to velocity and creates a stream as small as a human hair. Water exits the cutting head at nearly four times the speed of sound. With this pressure and high velocity, the jet is capable of cutting steel that is over 12 inches thick.
How Do We Use the Water Jet?
At Sioux Rubber & Urethane, our Water Jet can handle material up to 12 feet in length and 6 feet wide. The sizes and thickness that we are able to cut with the jet are impressive and precise. We have cut rubber that is up to 4 inches thick, and we are able to go as small as ⅛” diameter holes. The Water Jet goes beyond cutting just rubber and urethane, however. We have used it to cut stone, wood, plastic, and plywood. Having the Water Jet allows us to create precise and accurate solutions to all of our customer’s unique needs. We are able to design specifications with an on-site AutoCAD system to ensure that every customer gets the exact results they need.
The Water Jet is just one of the many technological solutions that we utilize at Sioux Rubber & Urethane. With this unique tool, we are able to go above and beyond to meet the specific needs of each customer. There are very few things we can’t cover, and with the Water Jet, there are very few materials that we can’t cut. With precision, accuracy, and attention to detail, we are able to make any customer vision come to life.
